1. Neville(C) vs. Austin Aries for the Cruiserweight Championship
The Cruiserweight Championship may have been relegated to the kickoff show, but that does not diminish the hatred that these two men have for each other. Neville has rightly dominated the cruiserweights as their King since his return and subsequent heel turn.
Facing the most formidable challenge since his return, Neville will have his task cut out when he faces the ‘Greatest Man to have Ever Lived.’ Austin Aries has been very impressive since his return from injury and claimed to take the Cruiserweight division to the A-Double level. These two collide at the kickoff to the grandest event of the year.
Prediction: Neville retains the Cruiserweight Championship
2. The Fourth Annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
The prestigious Battle Royal in honor of one of the all-time greats will showcase its fourth edition at the Wrestlemania kickoff show. Some of the biggest names of RAW and Smackdown such as Big Show, Mark Henry, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, and Braun Strowman are set to compete for the prize.
There is a chip on Sami’s shoulder because of a stipulation that if he loses the Battle Royal, he will be fired from Monday Night RAW.
Prediction: Braun Strowman wins the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal by eliminating Sami Zayn.
3. Smackdown Women’s Championship match
Alexa Bliss will have her task cut out when she defends the Smackdown Women’s Championship against all the members of the female roster over at the blue brand. The chaos that has ensued over the past few months on Smackdown LIVE, has led to General Manager making up this match for the Showcase of Immortals.
While the likes of Natalya, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Mickie James, and Naomi already announced for the match, there is still a possibility of a few surprise entries to the match. The match was moved from the kickoff show to the main card of Wrestlemania.
Prediction: Naomi wins the Smackdown Women’s Championship in front of her home crowd in Orlando.
4. The Club vs. Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Cesaro and Sheamus Triple Threat ladders match for the RAW Tag Team Championships
It’s been almost a year since Enzo and Big Cass made their main roster debut. But despite the overwhelming fan support, the RAW tag team title has eluded this charismatic duo. The Club has been at their dominant best over the past couple of weeks attacking the two teams with ladders. The addition of solid steel ladders will add a lethal edge to the affairs inside the ring and make for some high flying spots.
Prediction: Enzo Amore and Big Cass win the RAW Tag Team Championships
5. Dean Ambrose(C) vs. Baron Corbin for the Intercontinental Championship
The rivalry between the Lunatic Fringe and the Lone Wolf has been fueled by animosity. Baron Corbin has managed to rattle Ambrose over the weeks leading up to Wrestlemania by Deep-Sixing him through an electrical board and injuring his ribs by crushing him underneath a forklift. However, the resilient champion has found a way to get back at Corbin.
The Lunatic Fringe will get a shot at retribution this Sunday when he squares off with Baron Corbin.
Prediction: Baron Corbin wins the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
6. Chris Jericho(C) vs. Kevin Owens for the United States Championship
Jeri-KO was perhaps the most entertaining angle on Monday Night RAW for the latter part of 2016. The two former friends will unleash their anger on each other with the United States Championship on the line. The Festival of Friendship marked the end of the ‘Bromance’ between Jericho and Owens.
Jericho gained some retribution on Owens when he cost the Prizefighter the WWE Universal Championship against Goldberg at Fastlane. The friendship will implode at the Ultimate Thrill Ride and cap off what has been a riveting storyline between the two superstars.
Prediction: Kevin Owens wins the United States Championship
7. John Cena and Nikki Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse
The battle of the power couples will grace the stage of Wrestlemania as the Total Bellas couple take on their Total Divas counterpart. Their rivalry has taken a personal turn with Miz and Maryse accusing Nikki Bella of furthering her career with John’s help backstage. John Cena retaliated last week on Smackdown LIVE by stating that they would destroy the “IT” couple of the WWE and throw them out like a waste of space.
Cena backed up his talk by provoking the Miz to take a shot at him, but the Miz and his wife slithered away, leaving John and Nikki standing tall at the end of the segment. With rumors of a possible proposal surrounding the match, it is one of the ‘must see’ encounters of the main card.
Prediction: John Cena and Nikki Bella defeat the Miz and Maryse
8. Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles
This match has the potential to steal the show. Styles and Shane are two of the most high-flying, and charismatic superstars on Smackdown LIVE. This rivalry took a turn for the worse when AJ Styles hurled Shane McMahon through a car window in the parking lot a couple of weeks ago on Smackdown. Shocked and concussed, Shane announced that he would personally settle the score with AJ Styles at the Showcase of Immortals.
He then went on to assault AJ Styles and drove his elbow through Styles’ chest, putting him through the announcer’s table. The Smackdown LIVE Commissioner and the Phenomenal One will clash in the Battle of Egos to see who emerges on top of the blue brand
Prediction: AJ Styles defeats Shane McMahon
9. Triple H vs. Seth Rollins in a Non-Sanctioned match
The teacher meets his disciple in an epic encounter that was slated for last year’s Mania. Triple H planted the seeds for this rivalry back in August last year when he handed over the reins of the Kingdom to Kevin Owens by helping him to become the WWE Universal champion. The Architect was incensed by the interference and has been calling out the Game ever since.
Triple H was not done as he cost Seth Rollins a spot in the Royal Rumble match. Samoa Joe on the orders of Triple H went on to assault Rollins on RAW aggravating his knee injury. Rollins has been left to the mercy of a crutch ever since but he promised that he would take out the Cerebral Assassin at the Grandest Stage of them All.
Prediction: Triple H defeats Seth Rollins following an interference from Samoa Joe
10. Bayley(C) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Nia Jax in a fatal four-way match for the RAW Women’s Championship
Charlotte has been the dominant star of the RAW women’s main event scene. The Queen held an undefeated singles pay-per-view streak until Sasha Banks ran an interference in the Women’s Championship match between her and Bayley.
Nia Jax found her way into the title picture by defeating the Champion on Monday Night RAW. This match is one of the most unpredictable ones on the main card as all three competitors are a credible threat to the underdog champion.
Prediction: Bayley retains the RAW Women’s Championship
11. Bray Wyatt(C) vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship
Randy Orton threw the Smackdown main event scene into an upheaval when he incinerated the Wyatt family compound and challenged Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship. The act left the Wyatt patriarch in disarray as he thought that the soul of Sister Abigail had been consumed by the flames.
Wyatt returned two weeks later on Smackdown claiming to be more powerful than before. He proclaimed that Sister Abigail was the spawn of Satan and that he had absorbed all her wickedness. Wyatt continued to torment Randy Orton, thus setting up the stage for one of the eeriest matchups at the Ultimate Thrill Ride.
